Maple

The maple leaf is another object in nature that transcends itself in design by becoming an icon. The maple leaf is both itself and a star-shaped element that can be used to accent or interrupt a flowing pattern. This perfectly meets the maple leaf as a marker of seasons, tumbling from its stem into flowing water as fall turns to winter. The Japanese word ‘momji’ means both ‘maple’ and autumn foliage in general.  Peace, serenity, abundance and beauty are other qualities symbolized by maple in Japan.
