Koi and Pine in Stream

Koi with Pine is a light meandering work. Traditionally koi in katagami are for wedding presents, symbolic of a couple facing adversity together. The fish usually are fighting their way up a waterfall. Here the graphic line is sensitive to the composition as a whole. Lines thicken as they roll around the curve, thin to allow the fish to slip behind. Any koi katagami is premium. This one is extrodinary and graceful.

Light Ground Composition — in a light ground stencil, the field is light with lines and forms of the pattern crafted from dark paper.
